Undertakings

So I am six months out of school with my B.A. in sociology and more questions about the world around me than ever. I've been thinking a lot lately about how my personal history has influenced what I know and how I know. There are many thoughts on this front which I will share as they are developed. What are the effect of being my family's first generation to grow up in the middle-class? How have my religious experiences altered the way in which I learn and see the world? Where does my curiosity come from? And why has it been so challenging to find a community that shares that same passion for learning?

I'm working my way through this.

But actually... I like simple beginnings. So this is it. I'm challenging myself in two ways, my two big post-graduation projects.

Short-term/ project-based: The study is photography. The project is a piece on my extended families during the holidays. To capture the contrast between the two sides of my family, as well as the similarities.

Long-term: I've started reading through The Harvard Classics. The list is looong and somewhat outdated, but it's available in it's entirety, for free, online at www.bartleby.com. I've started working my way through the "five-foot bookshelf" and would love someone to join me!
